Tom Dixon’s Milan Multiplex

One of the more unique stands at Milan this year was Multiplex, by British furniture and lighting outfit Tom Dixon.

Created in partnership with the new Blackberry Playbook tablet, Multiplex was a pop-up viewing theatre, broadcasting centre, restaurant, shop and gallery all rolled into one, where visitors could “explore the multifaceted world of Tom Dixon”.

As detailed on the their website, the Multiplex stand was “a clear departure from the traditional exhibition booths typical during the Milan Design Week, where the convention is to show single prototypes, the aim is to create up to six working environments all in full use.

Each section explored ideas of luminosity and technology to include a Science Lab, Hotel Lobby and Viewing Theatre. A Broadcast Centre updated information daily from all over the fair onto a giant wall of projections. The Tom Dixon pop-up restaurant Parlement was another highlight, serving British tea and scones through-out the day, a small lunch menu in the afternoon and a four course sharing dinner by night during the fair.

New products launched in Milan included the Etch light (pictured above), Bulb Chandelier, Peg Chair and Roll Table. You can see all of these products and other new releases in the latest Tom Dixon catalogue. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like any further information on the Tom Dixon range. Furniture and accessories for the home as well as contemporary contract furniture.
