Tangram’s Favourite Finds Part 1 – Salone del Mobile 2017

Earlier this month we set off to Milan for the Salone del Mobile 2017. This globally renowned exhibition showcases the newest and most innovative trends in the furnishing and design sector. And with it being the largest in the world, you can imagine that whittling down our favourite finds is no easy task.

Yet again we were amazed and inspired by the extensive range of talent and creativity on display during this vibrant week.

Here are a few of our favourites.

Something Like This Sofa – Moooi

Resembling a “swift, impulsive drawing” this quirky sofa has Moooi written all over it – unusual, uneven and nothing shy of extraordinary. Something Like This is adjustable to all sorts of environments and will certainly be talked about for many months to come.

Kazimir RAW – E15

The wooden top made from solid European oak or walnut beautifully contrasts with the powder-coated steel base which it sits upon. The ‘raw’ element of the product is emphasised through the table edge, which effortlessly depicts the natural form of the tree, revealing a sense of individuality in each piece.

The base is available in standard and custom colours to complement any environment and has a top that can be up to 3600 mm. This table would suit any setting, either public or private.

Pocket – Bla Station

The Pocket by Bla Station was designed as part of an innovative solution to de-clutter public spaces. The elegant design allows the sitter to store their belongings in a tidy fashion, whilst the scooped, high back of the chair enables a sense of comfort and privacy, even in the busiest of spaces. Available in both fabric and leather editions, we particularly loved this dusty pink shade, which was a continuous theme during the Milan Design Week 2017.

CH23 – Carl Hansen

After five decades the CH23 is back and we couldn’t be more pleased. Simple yet sophisticated, the well-crafted dining chair was one of the first pieces that Hans J. Wegner designed for Carl Hansen & Søn. A best seller after its first launch, we are not surprised to see this beautiful product available again.

Lune – Fritz Hansen

Humble and inviting the Fritz Hansen Lune sofa definitely caught the attention of many at the Salone del Mobile. This charming modular sofa has been designed to offer the utmost comfort and can seat from two to ten people!

AXY – MDF Italia

Indoor or outdoor, work desk or dining table – the versatility of the AXY is limitless. The newest table series by Claudio Bellini is flawless in design. Available fixed length or with extensions, it is available in 20 sizes.

 Nonoto Bar – Zeitraum

Robust and sleek these high bar stools feature solid American walnut and an inner ring footrest – designed for comfort without sacrificing style.

Softshell Side Chair – Vitra

Bold and beautiful Softshell Side chairs by Vitra certainly boast a lot of character. The Softshell was originally designed with a shell-shaped back and soft padding. The new Side chair is similarly crafted and allows for freedom of movement and long hours of sitting – perfect for home use, offices, hotels and restaurants.

Sliding Doors – Rimadesio

Rimadesio launched new developments of their sliding door systems including a patented built in sliding rail and new door profiles – adding to the variety and versatility of this outstanding range of doors and wardrobe systems. Crafted in glass and aluminium these products provide practical and beautiful solutions for many contemporary interiors.

The list of our favourite finds during Milan Design Week 2017 is really endless; look out for more Milan highlights in our future blogs.
