Based in Edinburgh’s Old Town, George Heriot’s is an independent primary and secondary school. LDN Architects designed a new purpose built refectory building in the school grounds and asked Tangram to assist with the specification of furniture.
Tangram spent time with the school staff to understand the requirements and functionality of the furniture and liaised with the architect to ensure synergy with the building and its interior.
Relaxed soft seating and bar stools were required for the coffee area whilst the main refectory furniture had to be extremely robust and flexible to allow for ever changing layouts.
Brandy armchairs and Smart bar stools from Spanish manufacturer Andreu World were supplied, both upholstered in a hard wearing vinyl fabric.
Reverse side tables also from Andreu World were specified with simple laminate tops.
The main refectory space has the iconic Campus chair from Swedish manufacturer, Lammhults. The Campus chair was supplied in the polypropylene version for mass seating with additional timber chairs with upholstered seats for evening functions. Trolleys for the chairs allow for ease of moving and re-configuring of the space. Lammhults Quickly folding tables were chosen for their ease of operation and excellent stability.
