News from the Furniture Fairs 2022 – part two

Discover what’s new in contemporary furniture and design

Here we have the second part of our news from the 2022 furniture fairs! Discover our highlights and favourite new product reports from our Edinburgh interior design team below. Do let us know if you have any questions or if you would like to receive more product info – we would love to hear from you!

Ishino récamiere

What a joy it was to visit the Walter Knoll furniture fairs during Milan Design Week. Not only was their window display jaw droppingly gorgeous (it was completely adorned with flowers!!) but their latest designs were also a feast for the eyes too! New to their collection was the lovely Ishino Récamiere – a generous seat inspired by the classic chaise longue.

Also new to their collection, and their latest signature piece, is the Shinzo Lounge Chair. Making a statement with its decorative seams, precise upholstery and a real material mix (including wood, leather, fabric and steel) gives Shinzo it’s unique look.

Happy Jack Poltrona Frau

‘True Evolution’ is the latest collection from Poltrona Frau and includes many new pieces to celebrate the company’s 110 years!  With so many gorgeous new products on display at the furniture fairs, it was a tricky task to whittle down our three favourites! Nevertheless, here are our top three. First up is Happy Jack, a sofa we just adore! Playful, soft and extremely comfortable, Happy Jack is as friendly and welcoming as its name suggests.

Aurora Tre Bed Poltrona Frau

Next is the sublime Aurora Tre bed – another stunning addition to Poltrona Frau’s collection. Characterised by a padded headrest with a quilted effect and beautiful curve, Aurora Tre boasts contemporary charm!

And finally, a sofa-bed that doesn’t look like a sofa-bed – MassimoSistema. Cleverly designed so that seat and back cushions are attached into the structure and remain attached when the bed is unfolded, this sofa-bed is extremely easy to use, comfortable and stylish!

Porro
Glide sliding partition

Porro expands their sliding partition collection with the stunning Glide system. Glide is available in many different design solutions that can be perfectly mixed and matched with one another. Thanks to the upper rail, the floor is left completely intact allowing for a sleek and contemporary finish.

Another outstanding piece in Porro’s collection is the Ryoba dining table. Whilst not a new design, we were reminded what a beauty this table is, particularly when placed alongside the new Glide!

Nolita Outdoor Sofa Pedrali

Next we highlight our favourite finds at Pedrali, including the lovely outdoor sofa Nolita. ‘Featuring simple and iconic shapes, Nolita is designed to ‘enjoy moments of conviviality and relax in the open air.’ Available in a number of finishes and compositions, Nolita is extremely versatile.

lamorisse pedrali

Equally as lovely is Pedrali’s Lamorisse, an armchair designed for the outdoors – although arguably Lamorisse could be suited to any interior design setting where relaxation is called for! Playful and extremely comfortable, Lamorisse is a joyful seat.

Living Divani
Aero D Living Divani

It was also a pleasure to visit Living Divani furniture fairs during Milan design week. We were introduced to Aero D – a sweet little desk with such elegant details we would have quite liked to take it home there and then!

Sumo Sofa

We also saw a familiar favourite – the incredibly sleek Sumo sofa from Living Divani, which is now even more comfortable! The addition of a headrest mechanism allows the backrest to recline in different positions to ensure total relaxation.

In addition, we experienced the wonderful Oolong. ‘With its full shape, the new Oolong wing chair by Piero Lissoni, safely wraps the body and accompanies it in movement, to inspire thoughts and give space to imagination.’ Elegant and sophisticated, Oolong has a timeless appeal.

Porada

Porada showcases their latest dining table ‘Berry’, which has been finished in their new spectacular marble! Berry is not just a table but a work of art.

Also new to their collection is a series of side tables and trolleys (images and more details coming soon!)

Aliante Rimadesio

Rimadesio’s new launches in 2022 include Aliante – ‘the new aluminium and transparent glass container-casket consisting of a series of exclusive technical solutions, such as the special way the doors open.’ Beautifully engineered, Aliante is a refined and elegant addition to their collection which is a firm favourite with our interior designers in Edinburgh.

rimadesio new finishes 2022

Taiga oak is the latest finish to Rimadesio’s collection. The finely striped horizontal texture is obtained through a mechanical pressing process which ensures it is very soft to the touch.

Lambert & Fills

Lighting company, Lambert & Fils, beautifully displayed their latest design ‘Silo’ during Milan. The striking display involved a cluster of beautiful aluminium tube-like lights, suspended above a large circular table covered in wild flowers. Here we see Silo in a different setting and the result is equally as beautiful. ‘As a stand-alone piece or featured in a cluster, the collection plays with negative space to reflect its surroundings making it as compelling turned off as when illuminated.’

Continuing the lighting theme, next we share the latest from Tom Dixon. We particularly loved the Press collection. ‘Press is a series of lights made from the thickest and most transparent glass with a satisfyingly rounded linear surface detail. The ribbed glass creates diffusion of the light source and projects linear and stripy patterns. Bold in silhouette and simple in function, Press is manufactured by dropping massive globs of molten glass at 1,200 degrees centigrade, pressed in iron moulds under tons of pressure to create immensely durable lights.’

Until next year!

And that’s a wrap! We hope you have enjoyed our favourite new releases at the furniture fairs. It was wonderful to be in the thick of it all and see these gorgeous designs in the flesh. We look forward to including them in future interior design projects. Whether that be residential interiors or contract furniture for commercial spaces.
