Five Manufacturers You Should Know About But Probably Don’t

Bla Station

This Swedish family-run company is fun and quirky. They manufacture products like wrinkly chairs and multi-functional swivel chairs, which can double as desks if you so please. Constantly on the go and thinking of new and innovative functions for furniture, Bla station is full of surprises.

They are also extremely eco-friendly! You have never seen a manufacturer this green – their products are made out of renewable material, are recyclable and locally produced to decrease transportation.

Rimadesio

Rimadesio produce glass furniture, wardrobes and room dividers like only the Italians could. The products scream elegance and a level of know-how that completely baffles us mere human beings. Furniture from Rimadesio looks like it should not be able to exist and you spend quite a while wondering how they get glass to do that.

And while ‘over 50 years of experience’ is the answer, it does not deflect from the magic.

Mark Product

MARK product, with all capitals, is a small British manufacturer based in Cornwall and surrounded by sheep. The furniture they produce is just as lovely as you would imagine, with seating like the Mycroft range, calling tribute to the brother of the most famous British detective.

MARK products are just good, clean-cut fun, with quirky colours and functional designs.

e15

This German manufacturer specialises in simple designs using solid wood in its barest form. Since they were founded in 1995, e15 has become progressively more playful, with products like the Bessy armchair.

E15 also has a collection focused on Ferdinand Kramers designs, launching 12 of his designs into the 21st century – retro in its purest and finest form. Which combined can be used as inspiring contemporary breakout furniture for commercial use.

A perfect example is their Orient light, designed by Jo Hammerborg in 1963 and launched by Lightyears in 2013, exactly 50 years after its creation.
